So due to his extremely humble Sufi personality, people called him The Dervish King, a person who was a King and a Dervish at the same time. He was born in Lahore in , and also died there in His Urs annual death anniversary is celebrated at his shrine every year during the " Mela Chiraghan " "Festival of Lights". The number of rhymed lines is usually between four and ten. Only occasionally is a longer form adopted. Hussain's Kafis are also composed for, and the singing of them have been set to music based on Punjabi folk music. Many of his Kafis are part of the traditional Qawwali repertoire. And all poetry carries, through manipulation of sound effects, some suggestion of music". I belong to Ranjha and he belongs to me. And the Khedas dream idle dreams. Let the people say, "Heer is crazy; she has given herself to a cowherd. Since Ranjha became a jogi, I have scarcely been my old self; people everywhere call me crazy.

Faqeer is one who is selfless and considers himself below everybody else. So much so that even does not preach lest he should feel more knowing and pious than others to whom he is preaching.

I went for this book after reading Alakh Nagri in search of quality books on spirituality and I can say I am satisfied. The author has clearly stated that Wali is one who does not misses even a single Sunnat. Thus all extra-Shariat acts are automatically excluded from Tasawwuf. The b One word - selflessness. The book is mostly on how a good muslim should deal with others. A faqeer is always looking to help others, neglicting his own self and NEVER looking for a reward or even appreciation.

The authors answers questions on Haroof e Muqateaat and says this knowledge cannot be revealed and can only be gained through getting into the spiritual order itself.

He may be right but an "outsider" is not satisfied with such answers. Regarding a Wali not leaving a single Sunnah, the book itself narrates at least one instance where a sufi did not pray salaat while attending guests which is clearly against shariah. One good thing about the book is that author discourages Zikr Azkar for material purposes. He encourages reciting Quran and praying only to get near to Allah, not to get oneself transfered to a particular office!

For the rest of us may be the author does mention some Azkaar.

Kahay Faqeer by Syed Sarfraz A Shah PDF Book

Overall I find this book very inspiring. He says one should go to faqeers to gain Ilm and not for petty worldly desires. The nature of Ilm ludni is not very elaborated however in the book.

Seems fair enough. Allah knows best but why would a faqeer be assigned such a task? What is the actual role of faqeers in our world is not very clearly explained. To sum up, the book is on how a faqeer should act in his daily life, not on what "special" duties or what special "ilm" he is given as a result of his closeness with Allah. Another notable thing in the book is that a faqeer is illustrated as one who does all the hard work in the world and never resorts to Azkaar to get worldly tasks done.
